ON OUR OWN FEET FOR 22 YEARS

– The company Martinsen & Son Elektro has existed for more than 80 years, but we bought the company 22 years ago, says Terje Pedersen.

– For all of the 22 years, we have operated as an independent store, but it requires us to analyse the market well, and together with suppliers find models that are competitive, says Pedersen.

The trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen meets him and his sons Nicklas and Patrick Pedersen at the company's premises in Fredrikstad in September.

Good service is important

– As an independent retailer, it is important to have a high level of service. Our customers get their goods delivered and installed for free, usually the day after purchase, says Pedersen.

The company has two delivery vans that are out on the road daily to deliver goods.

– In 2022, we were named the best service company in Fredrikstad, and that is a commitment, says Pedersen.

Martinsen & Sønn Elektro AS installs most products themselves, except where a trade certificate is required.

– In those cases, we have good agreements with local installers, so that we deliver a good total package to our customers, says Patrick Pedersen.

Largest in white goods

Martinsen & Sønn Elektro AS has two stores in Fredrikstad, one in the city centre and one near Gamlebyen on the east side of the Glomma. The range consists of white goods, brown goods, and heat pumps.

– White goods account for 65 percent of the turnover, so they are important to us, says Terje Pedersen.

He and Nicklas have the main responsibility for the store on the east side, while Patrick is mostly in the city centre store. The store in the city centre has a sales area of 450 square metres, while the other is 300 square metres.

– In addition, we have an external warehouse of 1,000 square metres, says Patrick Pedersen.

The company has 11 employees and a turnover of 32 million kroner.
