The Electronics Industry Foundation

The Elektronikkbransjen Foundation is the trade association for consumer electronics in Norway, both in products and services. The association's members assist daily in simplifying and improving everyday life for everyone, including in business and the public sector, through time- and labour-saving tools, communication services, entertainment, as well as smart, music, health, and lifestyle products.

The membership consists of importers, producers, distributors, chains, online players, retailers, service providers, and workshops in all categories and levels of the business chain, and this puts the Norwegian industry in a unique position compared to other countries.

The foundation shall safeguard the industry's interests in hearings and political forums, towards authorities, consumer organisations, media, and consumers.

The organisation in subcommittees shall ensure discussion and representation for the entire breadth of the association's membership:

• Electrical household appliances
• Sound, image, and data
• Telematics
• Trade and workshop
• Photo council
• Music industry committee

The Elektronikkbransjen Foundation functions as a networking body for its members, with room for their own activities in subgroups. Our members gain access to Elektronikkbransjen's activities, registers, statistics, and agreements.

The broad scope of the industry also means that the infrastructure of the electronics industry covers all of Norway, with sales outlets and service services. The association has around 1,000 member companies and employs about 12,000 people.

The Elektronikkbransjen Foundation represents an industry that in 2022 had a turnover of 40 billion kroner, making us one of the largest industry associations with a main focus on the private market.

Established 1924

The history of the Elektronikkbransjen Foundation dates back to 18 June 1924, when the Norwegian Radio Trade Federation (NRL) was formed during a meeting at Kristiania Børs. Since then, the association has evolved in line with technological development, it has had several names and has incorporated related associations, such as the Norwegian Radio Dealers Federation, the Norwegian Radio Suppliers Federation, the Electronics Industry Service Office (EBS), the Norwegian Photo Importers Federation (NFL), and the Supplier Association for Satellite Reception Equipment (LSM).

In January 2001, the EE Industry Foundation (Electro and Electronics Industry) was established by the Supplier Association Sound & Vision (LF) and the Electronics Association. The Supplier Association for Mobile and Telecommunications (LMT) was involved from the start, and in January 2003, the Norwegian Electrical Suppliers Association (NEL) collectively joined the foundation.

In January 2006, the name was changed to the Electronics Industry Foundation, and in addition to the aforementioned subgroups in the EE industry, the Photo Council (since 2010) and the Norwegian Music Industry Council (since 2017) are included today.
