Before lunch, sales had exceeded NOK 6 million and one vacuum cleaner was sold every minute when Power opened its new store in Asker.

– Everyone is talking about online shopping, but here in Asker, 700 people queued up to shop in-store. It is really exciting, says Anders Nilsen, CEO of Power Norway, in a press release.

When the store opened at the Trekanten shopping centre on Thursday 8 October, Mayor Lene Conradi cut the ribbon.

– By 11 am, 350 vacuum cleaners had already been sold, and the Dyson V10 promotional offer was the most popular item. Shopping trolleys were filled with TVs, washing machines, coffee machines, smartwatches, air fryers, earbuds, phones and tablets, the press release states.

15 hours in the queue

The first customers joined the queue as early as 15 hours before opening. Once the clock had passed midnight, the queues extended through the car park at the Trekanten shopping centre.

– Customers Meenakshi and Hari Chand joined the queue at 2 am to secure a MacBook Pro. They filled a shopping trolley with Dyson vacuum cleaners, electric toothbrushes and hair-styling products, Power writes.

Asker is Power's 130th store in Norway. Over the past year, the Norwegian-owned chain has also opened new premises in Kirkenes, Grünerløkka, Tynset, Porsgrunn and Rjukan. A new superstore will shortly open in Stjørdal.
