FREESTANDING MEANS MORE CAPACITY

BSH is launching its first new platform for freestanding refrigeration and freezing appliances in more than ten years, aiming to strengthen its position with models that rank among the largest by capacity.

– This is great news for us. We have wanted to strengthen our position in this part of the market as well, and now we are finally ready, says Gry Enger at BSH Home Appliances.

At Elkjøp's Campus Home training fair before the summer, the company is showcasing the new cabinets.

– The freestanding models offer extremely good capacity, both for refrigeration and freezing, says Enger.

The new platform will be available under the Bosch and Siemens brands. It includes, among other things, several refrigerator models with a net capacity of 402 litres, energy class C and a noise level of 35 dB.

– The cabinets have an incredibly stylish interior with flexible, easy-to-clean shelves, and they are also available in models with a metal back wall, Enger tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

She particularly highlights the smart storage solutions:

– The refrigerators have a zero zone with a total of three drawers. These zones double the shelf life of foods such as cheese, meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables.

More space in the freezer

The new freezers also have a much larger capacity, according to Enger.

– Freezer capacity has increased by 38 per cent compared with the previous generation, to 334 litres, which corresponds to around 92 litres of extra capacity, she says.

The new cabinets come with several handle solutions.

– Some people want an easy-open solution, and there will be models with both longer and shorter handles, says Enger.

– The freezers come with lighting, which provides a better overview of the contents, she says.

The cabinets will be available in white, steel and black steel, and Enger emphasises the flexibility of the interior layout.

– The door shelves are so clever that you simply flip them out and place them wherever they fit. If, for example, you have herbs you want to freeze, you can attach them to the inside of the freezer drawer. You can use these shelves interchangeably in the fridge and freezer, says Enger.

Production takes place at BSH's own factories in Europe.
