– Airthings is now returning to core technology, as a supplier of digital radon and indoor climate meters, says technology director Arnstein Teigene.

When we meet him and sales director Tuyen Vo Olsen at the CES fair in Las Vegas in January, they show the new radon detector Corentium Home 2. This is a battery-powered unit with Bluetooth and app support, developed for measuring radon levels over time. Arnstein Teigene says the predecessor, Corentium Home 1, is the Norwegian company's best-selling model.

– Corentium was the original name of the company when it was established by three CERN researchers in 2008, says Teigene.

Sales director Tuyen Vo Olsen says Airthings has been through a challenging period, and that the company is now focusing more clearly on radon measurement.

– We are going back to our roots, says Olsen, pointing out that radon is both a health risk and an area where Airthings has a particular responsibility for expertise.

– Radon is a potentially deadly gas found in homes. Therefore, a digital radon detector is an important tool for homeowners, says Teigene.

USA and Canada largest

He says the company has for a period invested broadly in indoor climate, including air purifiers, but that the focus is now more clearly defined.

– Being a digital radon and indoor climate detector is what we will build on, says Teigene to the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

Airthings currently has 62 employees globally, of which 46 are based in Norway. The USA and Canada are the company's most important markets, accounting for most of the sales. According to Teigene, around 80 percent of the revenue comes from the consumer market. Among the corporate customers in North America, there are several companies from the Fortune 500 list.

Corentium Home 2 costs 1,800 kroner, and before the launch in the summer of 2025, more than 23,000 units have been sold.

– This is more than planned. In total, we sold around 140,000 Corentium Home units last year, either version 1 or 2, which is a new record, says Teigene.

Most people who buy these do so, according to Airthings, to measure radon in their own homes. If the radon level turns out to be elevated, the company's representatives recommend contacting professionals for further measures, after first checking ventilation and any cracks in the foundation.
