AEG is updating its ovens with a new pizza function, expanding the hob range and introducing a new type of sapphire glass for hobs.

Martin Stenberg is Head of Trade Operation at Electrolux, with responsibility for all training and store activities, including the AEG exhibition at PowerUp. When we meet him the week before Easter at the chain’s training fair at Gardermoen, the focus is on the new ovens with a pizza function up to 340 degrees.

– The reason we stop here is that you need a safety feature on the door if the temperature goes above 350 degrees. At 340 degrees we still get a perfect result, not least if you use a dedicated pizza steel, Stenberg tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

Pyrolytic ovens with the display called CookSmart Touch can now be updated over Wi-Fi, so that they also get the 340-degree pizza function. Asked whether other pyrolytic ovens can be updated by a service technician, Stenberg responds bluntly.

– Not at the moment. It is something we can look at.

At Power, the products are primarily sold under the AEG brand, but Electrolux is also available at other chains. Stenberg explains that the range varies from chain to chain and market to market, but that Power has a larger share of AEG than Electrolux.

Steam ovens and a new hob

Electrolux has built up a product ladder of ovens aimed at different needs, from ovens adapted for baking with steam, to ovens that add moisture during the roasting of meat and fish, and ovens that combine full steam and fan cooking.

– The market is moving towards steam, and we have gained a very strong position here, Stenberg tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

On the hob side, Electrolux is launching SaphirMatt SE, a new glass that is priced a couple of thousand kroner below the premium SaphirMatt variant. The SE variant has a more matte finish and is less scratch-resistant than the original with sapphire glass, but is still more scratch-resistant than a standard hob.

– The original SaphirMatt is 10 times more scratch-resistant and has almost no reflection in daylight, while SaphirMatt SE is three times as scratch-resistant, says Stenberg.

AI in the refrigerator

On the refrigeration side, Electrolux is presenting a function called Cool Assist AI.

– It is an artificial intelligence that learns how you use the cabinet and can adjust energy consumption accordingly, Stenberg tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.
