90 YEARS IN 20 MINUTES

Can Jon Lyngra, Knut Grimstad and Tommy Myhre condense 90 years of industry experience into 20 minutes? You will get the answer on 5 November.

During our event, where we will name the Christmas gift of the year and the products of the year, the three experienced retailers have accepted the challenge of giving their own Pecha Kucha presentations. However, the format gives them no opportunity to go into much detail, as they must adhere to one simple (but relentless) rule: 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each, giving a total speaking time of six minutes and 40 seconds. The result is concise, engaging and often entertaining presentations, in which the speaker must get straight to the point.

This presentation format combines a high pace with clear storytelling. The format was developed in Tokyo in 2003 by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, who wanted an alternative to long and cumbersome lectures.

In Norwegian and Japanese, the word is pronounced «pe-cha-ku-cha», with stress on the syllables and a short u.

At Høymagasinet on 5 November, three Pecha Kucha presentations are on the programme, offering brief and pointed insights into topics we hope and believe will engage the audience in the hall.

Not all of them have delivered, and some have disappeared as quickly as they arrived. What is different today? Grimstad puts today’s innovations into a historical perspective and asks whether artificial intelligence really is as scary as many claim.
