SIGNIFICANT GROWTH FOR USED MOBILES

Teleoutlet had sold 18 percent more used mobiles in December than in 2024. It is particularly the expensive phones that are popular.

- 2025 has been a historically good year. Before Christmas, we notice the greatest interest in the most expensive devices. Our forecast is that we will sell 20,000 upgraded mobile phones in 2025, says Per Ivar Kleivdal, founder of Teleoutlet, in a press release.

It is noted here that the sales of new mobiles in comparison are quite flat compared to 2024, and that the largest customer group for Teleoutlet lives in the largest cities and is in the age group 35 to 44 years. The age group 18-24 is increasing the most.

- This may indicate that many parents are buying an upgraded model for their children. In addition, we assume that students and young adults in the establishment phase have noticed that you get more for your money by thinking differently. If you buy a "new-ish" phone, tablet or Mac, you pay less than half the price compared to new models, says Kleivdal in the press release.

Upgraded mobiles

Teleoutlet is owned by Modino, which according to the press release is Norway's largest distributor of mobile phones and related equipment, and has for over ten years sold well-used phones, tablets and computers for reuse.

- All mobiles from Teleoutlet are carefully tested, restored and come with a two-year warranty and 30-day return policy, it says.

The products sold are mainly collected through exchange programmes with the major mobile operators.

- Upgraded mobiles account for 76 per cent of all sales in our online store this year. We see that women are the best at making such sustainable purchases, says Kleivdal in the press release.

During the autumn, the company has more than doubled its turnover. The most popular model is the Apple iPhone 15.

The average price is rising

- Sales picked up immediately after the latest interest rate cut, plus more and more people are being recommended to buy used devices. The average price in the shopping basket is rising, and we have seen a shift towards the most expensive models, says Kleivdal.

The devices sold have had their memory erased from the previous owner. The machines and phones have undergone an upgrade and often also received a new battery.

- Customers are aware that the devices should appear as new. A "new-ish" model makes it possible to buy a phone, a tablet or a computer that is thoroughly tested, upgraded and ready for use, at a reasonable price, says Teleoutlet's representative in the press release.
