- When battery-powered garden tools are put away for the season, it is crucial how the batteries are stored, according to a press release from Husqvarna.

The Swedish manufacturer points out that incorrect storage can reduce capacity and damage the battery, while proper handling ensures that the machines are ready to use when spring comes.

Husqvarna recommends the following routines for winter storage:

  • Store the batteries in a cool place, between 5 and 15 degrees
  • Charge to about 50 percent before storage, neither fully nor completely discharged
  • Place the batteries on a shelf or in a box, not directly on the floor
  • Check the status now and then during the winter and charge if necessary
  • Always use original accessories for charging and storage
