ELKJØP CLEARED TO BUY EPLEHUSET

The Norwegian Competition Authority approves Elkjøp’s purchase of Eplehuset. – We are pleased and relieved, says Øystein Flisnes Husby of Elkjøp Nordic.

He is director of strategy and business development, and says in a press release dated 30 July that Elkjøp has throughout been confident that a thorough review of the facts would end in approval. The acquisition will be completed as soon as possible.

– The Norwegian Competition Authority has an important social mission, and we have great respect for that. At the same time, this has been a long and demanding process for everyone involved, not least for the employees at Eplehuset. Now, above all, we are happy that we can finally look ahead, says Øystein Flisnes Husby in the press release.

It states that Elkjøp has submitted extensive documentation and analyses to the authority during the process.

 

Complementary concepts

– It has required a great deal of time and resources, but has also helped to shed good light on the case: Apple products are sold by many players in Norway, in stores and online, and Elkjøp and Eplehuset have different concepts that complement each other, Elkjøp writes in the press release.

– Eplehuset has specialist expertise in Apple, which we have great respect for. Together, we will give Norwegian consumers an even better offering. We look forward to welcoming Eplehuset’s talented people, says Flisnes Husby.

Elkjøp Nordic is part of the British company Currys plc, operating in the Nordic region through the chains Elkjøp, Elgiganten and Gigantti. Eplehuset is a Norwegian specialist chain for Apple products and related services, with stores across the country.
