The money goes to organisations and associations in Norway, which help those who in various ways struggle with technology. Now Elkjøp is on the hunt for more good causes that are helping to combat digital exclusion.

- We must lift together. Elkjøp cannot solve all problems, but we can contribute. Our goal is to make everyday life a little easier for those who do not have the means, access, or sufficient knowledge to participate in the digitisation of our society, says the managing director of Elkjøp Norway, Linda Frid Andresen, in a press release.

It states here that the goal of the Elkjøp Fund is to make everyday life a little easier for those who do not have the means, access, or sufficient knowledge to participate in the digitisation of society. Committed associations and organisations that have an idea that can help reduce digital inequality in Norway are encouraged to apply for support from the Elkjøp Fund.

- We want to make technology accessible to everyone. If you have an idea or a project that includes more people in the local community digitally, we want your application now. We are distributing one million kroner across five regions, providing equal opportunities for support regardless of where in the country you live, says Andresen.

The company has gathered information about the Elkjøp Fund and the application process on this page.

Six key figures

In the press release, Elkjøp refers to a survey they commissioned from YouGov in April 2024, where they map so-called digital exclusion in Norway and the Nordics, where these key figures emerged for Norway:

· 18% of Norwegian parents say that their children have experienced discrimination, bullying or exclusion in connection with online gaming.

· 42% of Norwegian parents find it challenging to have an overview of their children's digital lives.

· 24% of young people under 29 say that digitalisation makes them feel more lonely.

· 31% think technology has become so challenging that it is difficult to keep up.

· 25% believe that technological development creates increased class differences.

· 19% are worried about losing their job to artificial intelligence.

- Even Norway, which is a very digitalised country, is facing technological problems. Therefore, we are increasing our efforts and hope for many exciting applicants, says Andresen in the press release.
