Dreame is showcasing the X60 Pro Ultra at Campus Home, with higher suction power, a new mopping function and threshold handling. New categories are coming soon.
Nordic sales director Mikael De Basso highlights three main arguments for the Dreame X60 Pro Ultra.
– The first is that we are stepping up from the previous 35,000 pascals on the X60 to 42,000 pascals on the X60 Pro Ultra. The second is that it can cross thresholds of 10 centimetres. Previously, we had 8.8 centimetres; now it crosses thresholds of 10 centimetres in two steps, 5 plus 5. And the third is that we have a new mopping function, says De Basso.
The mop can be extended 18 centimetres to reach under furniture, into corners and in places it previously could not reach. The side brush can be extended 12 centimetres to get better access under surfaces and sweep in dust that is then sucked up.

Another new feature is an extra brush that extends towards skirting boards along the wall and brushes dust off them.
Meets the customer’s needs
The X60 Pro Ultra still uses technology from the X50, according to De Basso. The main brush has an anti-tangle function, and hair up to 30 centimetres long should be able to be sucked into the machine without getting stuck.
– We have two cameras on the front that can identify more than 320 objects using artificial intelligence. Now it does not just see that there is an obstacle; it understands what it is and how to get past it without getting stuck, De Basso tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

He describes the X60 Pro Ultra as Dreame’s newest and most powerful robot vacuum cleaner. It will launch in the Nordics on 8 June, with a price of NOK 17,000, including an accessory package for a full year.

– I believe we are starting to get close to truly meeting all the customer’s needs in a robot vacuum cleaner, enabling it to be more self-sufficient and reach every spot, every corner and every edge in the home, says De Basso.
From 35,000 to 42,000 pascal
Dreame has also shown the X60 Ultra, the version without Pro in the name.
– The difference is pascal. The Pro Ultra has 42,000, the X60 Ultra has 35,000. Another difference, as mentioned, is that the X60 handles thresholds of 8.8 centimetres, while the X60 Pro Ultra handles 10 centimetres. But the X60 Ultra is slightly slimmer in the chassis, at 7.95 centimetres, while the X60 Pro Ultra is 8.9 centimetres high, says De Basso when we meet him at Elkjøp’s training fair at Gardermoen at the end of May.
He says the thickness is related to the mechanics for the arm in the product.

The arm must wait
Dreame has previously shown robot vacuum cleaners with an arm that can tidy up and pick up items. They have not yet been sold in the Nordics.
– We conducted a survey of the market and the interest in that type of product, and saw that it was not something that suited the mass market as it looks now, says De Basso.
The technology still exists, and the company is continuing to develop it so that other accessories can be connected to the arm.
– To be able to reach skirting boards, corners and edges using an arm, instead of only having a picking function, you could for example have a suction function in the arm, he says.
The first in the Nordics
When De Basso joined Dreame 2.5 years ago, he was the first employee in the Nordics. Today, there are 12 people based in the Nordics, while the total staff, including people in China dedicated to the Nordics, amounts to more than 35 people.

– It has been an exciting journey, but at the same time an organic growth. We grow and invest where we know we can get something back, and we hire staff when we see the need to have more people who can look after our business, says De Basso.
He says the company does not hire people just to have people in the office.
– We want the right people, we want them in the right place. And I think that has been a recipe for success for us, he says.
Dreame has recruited people with experience from various parts of the industry.
Local organisation important
De Basso says robot vacuum cleaners are Dreame’s core business and most important product group. Robotic lawn mowers are also an important product group, and De Basso says the market is now dominated by wireless lawn mowers.
Handheld vacuum cleaners are based on the same type of technology around the company’s patented motor as is used in the robot vacuum cleaners.
– A category where we are also seeing strong growth is personal care, says De Basso.
Dreame has launched an LED mask, and De Basso says more products that people have seen on social media are on their way into the Nordic market.
– Is there any difference between Dreame and the other Chinese companies that have established themselves in the Nordics?
– We have established a local organisation, and I think most of the people we work with feel that we have a very short path to decision-making, says De Basso.
A1 Pro, which Dreame is bringing with it from last year, is now coming for more lawn sizes. A2 also came last year, while A3 is new this year.
– The simplest model, A1 Pro, navigates with lidar and has coverage from 800 to 2,000 square metres, says De Basso.
A2 navigates with lidar and a front-facing camera, and can see obstacles and use artificial intelligence to avoid driving into objects. It also has automatic mapping.
– A2 also has something called Edge Master, so it cuts further out at the edges. A3 has four-wheel drive, and can handle slopes of up to 38.7 degrees, says De Basso.
A3 has lidar and dual cameras on the front.
Dreame and Mova
– During Dreame’s launch in Stockholm last year, you showed robot lawnmowers under the Mova brand. Can you explain the relationship between the two brands?
– Mova and Dreame have many of the same owners, but are separate business units. We have different development teams, and different focuses, says De Basso.
He says Dreame focuses on a smaller number of models with higher specifications, while Mova has a broader range.
Mova covers more price segments than Dreame, according to De Basso.
Washing and TV
Dreame has several product categories, but not everything is in the Nordics yet.
– We have everything from air purifiers and humidifiers to coffee machines, refrigerators, fans, air conditioners, dishwashers, washing machines and TV sets. There is quite a lot, but many categories are not yet in the Nordics, says De Basso.
He believes many of the categories will eventually be seen in the Nordic market.
– We are launching many new products, and already later this year you will see that more categories are coming from us, says De Basso.
