First 16-incher under a kilo

- Swift AR16 is the world's first portable 16-inch screen under a kilo, says Bart Janssen, head of Northern Europe at Acer.

At the IFA fair in Berlin in September, he is also showcasing a compact workstation with artificial intelligence.

- It has an Nvidia Blackwell chip, uses only 200 watts and has high capacity compared to traditional solutions that require over 1,000 watts, says Janssen.

- Everyone is talking about AI, and many want to run large language models locally, for example at universities. This device offers great capacity at an aggressive price, says Janssen.

Google Aluminium

He points out that AI can simplify many tasks, but that consumers need time to get used to the technology.

Acer is also following developments on the Chromebook side.

- Google has a project called Aluminium, which will integrate Android and Chrome OS. It will take time, but it could make the Chrome platform stronger, says Janssen.

- How would you describe today's market?

- After the pandemic, we are in a replacement cycle. Windows 10 is losing support, and we are seeing growth in both laptops and desktops, says Janssen. Acer is also showcasing electric scooters, electric bikes, and battery storage at IFA.

- This is part of our green strategy, but the market in the Nordics is demanding due to shipping and battery regulations, he says.
