LG is showing its first built-in oven at Power, and a microwave with a popcorn programme. For both laundry and refrigeration, the products are displayed with the back facing forwards.

Modified

If you are wondering why LG is showing the back of some of its products, you will need to read on in the article. First, we let Alv Rune Rygg say a little about LG’s first built-in oven at Power.

– It is very attractive in terms of design, with a pyrolytic cleaning function and a range of advanced features, Rygg tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

Above the oven, LG has placed a built-in microwave oven, also in a design finish. Rygg particularly highlights a dedicated popcorn mode and the 1,000-watt output.

– With this, you do not have to worry about burning the popcorn, or the food not being heated right through, says Rygg.

Washing machine in silver design

His colleague Robert Bjurlemyr presents the X75 washing machine, which at Power comes in a new silver colour.

– The display shows information about the washing programme in a clear way. With AI Wash, you can simply put the clothes in, and the machine registers what type of laundry it is and adapts the programme accordingly, says Bjurlemyr.

In addition, the model has a Turbo Wash programme, where in 39 minutes you get a class A washing result at half machine capacity. For the X75 with an 11-kilo capacity, this means 5.5 kilos of washing in 39 minutes.

The motor turned around

An unusual step by LG is that several products are displayed with the back facing forwards. Bjurlemyr says the purpose is to demonstrate the direct-drive inverter motors, which LG was first to introduce.

– The advantage of the Inverter Direct Drive motor is that it is mounted directly on the drum, which means the wash is gentler. It can run in one direction, stop and go back, and in this way creates six different movements for the clothes.

Bjurlemyr believes this is particularly beneficial for delicate garments such as wool, where the machine moves quietly and gently, while cotton is washed more vigorously. This is intended to make clothes last longer.

– Shop sales staff have often read or heard about this, but they have never seen it, so here they get a better picture of how it works, Bjurlemyr tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

Refrigerator with AI control

A refrigerator has also been placed with the back facing forwards, to show the inverter compressor and the internal components. Rygg says it is possible to connect the refrigerator to LG’s app, allowing AI to control how the refrigerator handles everyday life.

– Over the course of three weeks, the way the refrigerator is used is measured and recorded, and the cabinet is continuously adjusted accordingly. If, for example, you take out a yoghurt every Wednesday at eight in the morning, the temperature will be lowered in advance.

Rygg says that in this way you both save electricity and reduce food waste, since the food lasts longer. He points out that the purpose of showing the back is to show the machinery behind the AI function.

– AI is something a great many people have, but we show how it works together with the hardware.
