ELKJØP DOUBLED FIRST HALF YEAR

– We delivered an impressive first half year, with a 7.3 percent increase in turnover and almost a doubling of the result, says Fredrik Tønnesen.

He is the CEO of Elkjøp Nordic, which in a press release reports on both Christmas trading and half-year results.

– We almost doubled the result, from 251 to 477 million Norwegian kroner, says Tønnesen.

Elkjøp Nordic has a different financial year and concluded the first half-year on 1 November 2025. The company had a turnover of 23.808 billion Norwegian kroner during this period, an increase of 8.8 percent from the first half of 24/25.

In the press release, Tønnesen credits the group's employees, and it is noted that sales accelerated in the following two months, through November and December, with a total sales growth in the Nordics of 14 percent.

– With growth in all countries and product categories, as well as a long series of broken records during Black Weeks, Tønnesen can confirm the best Christmas trading ever, it states.

Kitchen up 30 percent

The largest growth is reported by Elkjøp from the kitchen category, with over 30 percent in the last half year. The initiative originally started over 15 years ago to sell more white goods, and now accounts for a billion turnover alone, it is stated.

– The kitchen products are designed by our own designers in Oslo, and throughout the Nordics, customers have truly embraced both the design and the smart solutions. Despite the crisis in the new construction market, we are now experiencing record growth in kitchen sales. Recently, we brought the logistics and value chain home to the Nordics, and now we are gaining market share and breathing down the necks of the kitchen giants, says Tønnesen.

Believes in further growth

The press release points out that the combination of online and store is the winning recipe for both Elkjøp and the customers.

– Most people start their shopping journey online, and many have what they need either prepared in or delivered to the nearest store, where they pick it up themselves. During this year's Christmas shopping, online sales increased by as much as 27 percent. With an economy on the upswing, the CEO believes that sales growth for both kitchens and electronics will continue in the new year, it is stated.

– People have a stronger belief in the future and a little more to spend. We have seen this clearly in recent months, and we believe it will continue. After several years of tough times, larger projects and investments are now on the agenda. This is good news for everyone, and we look forward to helping people, says Tønnesen.

 

New records

In the press release, Elkjøp Nordic reports on several records they have set during the Christmas shopping season:

  • Dozens of individual stores in the Nordics smashed their local records, as the group as a whole on Black Friday sold for well over one billion kroner in one day.
  • 45 percent of the turnover during this year's Christmas shopping came from Elkjøp's online stores.
  • People are starting their Christmas shopping earlier and earlier due to the black weeks. Now the businesses are following suit. With their own tailor-made campaigns, Elkjøp set a sales record with 25 percent growth in the business market in November and December.
