CANDY TRIO MAKES A COMEBACK

– Candy is back with solutions that are anything but conventional. We are relaunching the Candy Trio, a freestanding cooker with a ceramic hob, full-size oven and dishwasher in a single unit. This is a product many in the industry remember, and the market has been asking for this type of solution for years, says Randulf Rossbach, sales manager for Norway and Sweden at Witt Denmark.

We meet him before the summer at Elkjøp's Campus Home training fair at Gardermoen.

– The Trio is perfect for anyone with a small kitchen where space needs to be used efficiently. This could be holiday homes, small flats and student accommodation, where functionality is more important than maximum capacity. You get a large hob, an oven for preparing good food, and a dishwasher for six place settings, all in one unit, he says.

– At Elkjøp, we are showing the brand-new robot vacuum cleaners from iRobot, the barista machines from Sage, the Witt Varimixer Teddy kitchen machine and Nespresso capsule machines made by Sage, as well as white goods from Liebherr, Haier and Candy. With Candy, we are bringing in products that meet clear customer needs where space utilisation and functionality are the top priorities, says Rossbach.

Smart laundry solutions

These include several compact laundry solutions.

– Candy has products that are a little out of the ordinary. We are showing what may be the market's smallest washing machine: 5 kg capacity, approximately 45 cm deep and around 70 cm high. It is absolutely ideal for those with limited space, small flats, a holiday cottage or a boathouse, says Rossbach.

Another new product has three separate washing drums.

– The total capacity is 12 kg, with the two smallest drums handling approximately one kilogram each. The system uses an intelligent interface that analyses weight, degree of soiling and stains, and adjusts the detergent and programme accordingly, he says.

– Perfect when you come back from a cycling session and want to wash your sportswear quickly in one of the small drums, Rossbach tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

Manufactured in Italy

He believes that today's Candy products differ from what many people associate with the brand.

– Candy is the new Candy and cannot be compared with the old one. Production, quality and innovation from the new owner, Haier, have been incorporated into Candy products. Candy is manufactured in Italy, at the same factories, but with upgraded and new production equipment, he says.

Candy is part of Chinese company Haier's portfolio.

– Haier is the world's largest manufacturer and has been so for 18 consecutive years. We have a great many products that will be coming into Elkjøp, and Candy complements the portfolio with smart, space-saving solutions, says Rossbach.

Light and flexibility

Witt is also showcasing new solutions from Liebherr and Haier.

– Liebherr is German hand-built quality and an expert in refrigeration technology. Haier's strength is flexibility and innovation. Here at Campus, we are showing a 70 cm-wide fridge-freezer from Haier, with full-height lighting and two freezer drawers instead of a conventional freezer door. It is ergonomically smart and demonstrates the breadth of what we can offer, says Rossbach.

He also highlights a combined washer-dryer tower from Haier.

– This is a combined washing machine and tumble dryer in one, with two separate drums. It washes 10 kg and dries 8 kg, with a very nice touchscreen display that makes the machine easy for everyone to use, he says.

– Is there any advantage to having washing and drying in one unit?

– The machine stands more securely and looks better than traditional setups with a stacking frame. It is also easy to integrate into Epoq's bathroom and laundry room solutions, says Rossbach.
