The Dalema group becomes an owner in 4Sound, with 47.5 percent. - This strengthens us as Norway's strongest chain in the music industry, says Magne Iversen.

He is the general manager at 4Sound and tells the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen that they have used 2025 to adapt to the market.

- The competition from pure online players is challenging, but for both customers and suppliers, local presence is important. We are very pleased that we can now enter 2026 with a new co-owner who will bring us knowledge and capital, says Magne Iversen to the trade magazine Elektronikkbransjen.

The news that the Dalema group has joined the ownership side of 4Sound became known on 20 January in an email sent to 4Sound's suppliers and partners.

- This means a lot for 4Sound. Dalema is a company with enormous knowledge of retail and they can contribute a lot to both 4Sound and the music industry, says Iversen.

He will himself own 5 percent of 4Sound. Morgan Johnsen, who also owns Morgan Instruments, will have an ownership share equal to that of the Dalema group, while Kristin and Geir Falck in Trondheim will no longer be co-owners of the company.

Nine stores

4Sound currently has nine physical stores in Haugesund, Molde, Moss, Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, and Gjøvik, as well as in Alnabru and Schous Plass in Oslo. The first three are operated by franchisees.

According to the announcement, which has been sent out to suppliers and partners, the Dalema group will provide 4Sound with extensive knowledge and experience in logistics, purchasing, operations, and business development.

- Dalema's entry marks an important strategic step for both companies. Now work will be done for further growth, development, and a strengthened position in the market, it says.

It is mentioned that the Dalema group is a Norwegian corporation with roots dating back to 1979, and with operations in import, wholesale, retail, industry, and property in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

- The group today comprises more than 30 companies and is behind several strong retail and brand concepts with a large and efficient distribution network behind it. 4Sound is a stable and recognised brand with high professional competence, strong relationships with customers and suppliers, and a clear position in the market. This fits very well with the Dalema group's ambitions to have long-term ownership in strong concepts and position itself in the market with a versatile field of impact, the announcement states.

It is further mentioned that 4Sound has for several years been a leading destination for musicians, producers, and sound enthusiasts, with a focus on quality, competence, and service, both in-store and online.

- With many strategic adaptations, 4Sound has managed to survive as one of the country's only concepts that still today operates chain operations with physical locations in the sale of musical instruments and sound equipment. 4Sound will continue operations uninterrupted and under its own independent concept and brand. Existing customers, partners, and employees will experience that 4Sound's culture is preserved, while new opportunities open up in the coming years, the message states.

Dalema is built by, and is named after the founder Dag Leo Martinsen. In the portfolio, we find chains such as Kremmerhuset, Feel, Cervera, Kitch’n, Tilbords, and Magnor.
